Peaks Youth Hockey League
Frequently Asked Questions
My child wants to play hockey. Where do I start?
Skating is the foundation of hockey. We have a Learn to Skate and Learn to Play program that will give them the basics in skating and hockey to then get them ready to register for the season.
What is Learn to Play?
Learn to play is an instructional level youth hockey program designed for kids ages 3-16 to be introduced to and learn the basics of hockey. Learn to Play prepares players to enter the Peaks Youth Hockey League Program. Participants will be divided into separate portions of the ice based on age. We recommend taking Learn to Skate Hockey 1-4 sessions in conjunction with Learn to Play.

How do I register my child for the hockey program?
Registration sign-ups will be sent out and posted on our website in August, we will send an email out to all of the attendees of our Learn to Play program and previous players.
When are games?
Games are held on Saturdays. Practices are held one day each week. You will receive your schedule at the beginning of the season.

A typical hockey season goes from October to March. Practices will be once a week and games are every weekend for our 10/12/14+ players and every other weekend for our 6U and 8U players.
Are tryouts held?
No. Every child is placed on a team. We hold the player evaluations at the beginning of the season. We evaluate each player’s skills to ensure fair competition for games.
Do family members get to be on the same team?
Yes, if they are in the same age classification.
What else can I do to prepare my child for the hockey season?
We have “Stick Time” available for you and your player, we also have private coaches for further hockey instruction. You will need to reserve your spot for Stick Time on the Mind Body app through Provo Rec Center website.
